Can Energy Saving Light Bulbs Damage Your Health
I came across an article on Yahoo News while doing some research which suggests that some types of bulbs contain small amounts of mercury. The article only deals with compact fluorescent lamps and suggests there is a potential hazard if bulbs get broken and also from the effects of disposing of them in landfill. I haven’t noticed any health warnings on the boxes in this country but then maybe I haven’t looked hard enough. Interesting eh??!!

What is more interesting is that the quantity of mercury in a CFL is tiny compared to the amount released into the air by burning the amount of coal required to produce the energy saved by the lamp.
